Max Mayer
MAX MAYER is the Producing Director at New York Stage and Film. He has directed world and New York premieres of Lee Blessing’ Chesapeake; Eric Overmyer’s Dark Rapture; John Patrick Shanley’s the dreamer examines his pillow; George F. Walker’s Nothing Sacred, Escape from Happiness, Tough and Filthy Rich; Joanna Murray Smith’s Nightfall; Andrew Bergman’s Working Title; Alexandra Gersten’s Supple In Combat among numerous others. He has worked at theatres such as Steppenwolf, Second Stage, Atlantic, Long Wharf, Arena Stage and WPA. Writing credits include: James and The Handless Maiden (Los Angeles, 2002), The Sleeping Hippo (Off-Broadway, 1996), Hand to Hand (SAF, 1994), The Doorman (screenplay), The Physician (screenplay) and co-written screenplays Intersection, Runaway Lake and Better Living (which he directed as an independent feature in 1998 w/Olympia Dukakis and Roy Scheider.) He was Associate Producer on CBS’ “Family Law” and directed three episodes. He is currently working on an independent feature to be shot next winter and developing a television series. This summer, he will direct Randle Mell’s Anna and Me for New York Stage & Film.
