Doug Hughes
DOUG HUGHES is currently represented at Lincoln Center Theatre with Richard Greenberg's The House in Town. He is an associate artist at Roundabout Theatre Company, where he recently directed Eugene O?Neill's A Touch of the Poet, Richard Greenberg's A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, Jon Robin Baitz' The Paris Letter and Stephen Belber's McReele. He is also the resident director at MCC Theater, where he directed Last Easter, Scattergood, Frozen, Anadarko and The Grey Zone (1996 Obie Award for Direction). For his work on Frozen, Hughes received Tony Award, Outer Critics Circle and Lortel nominations. Other recent work in New York includes Engaged at Theatre for a New Audience; Flesh and Blood (Callaway Award for Best Direction), The Beard of Avon and A Question of Mercy, all at NYTW; Othello (with Keith David and Liev Schreiber) at the Public; John Guare's Lake Hollywood at Signature and Doubt, Defiance and An Experiment with An Air Pump for Manhattan Theatre Club. For his work on Doubt, Hughes won the 2005 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play. He also won the Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics, Drama Desk and Callaway Awards for the same production. In May 2005, Hughes received an Obie Award for Sustained Excellence.
