Dori Berinstein
DORI BERINSTEIN is a three-time Tony-Winning Broadway producer with an extensive film and television producing and directing background. ShowBusiness: The Road to Broadway, now in theatrical release across the country, marks Dori's debut as a feature film director. The film was named one of the top 4 Documentary Films of 2006 and won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the Florida Film Festival. ShowBusiness goes deep inside the backstage world of Broadway chronicling the behind-the-scenes passion, exhiliration, drama, sweat and high-stakes creative and financial risk of Wicked, Avenue Q, Taboo and Caroline, or Change from inception through the Tony Awards. As a Broadway Producer, Dori's productions include: Thoroughly Modern Millie (Tony Award - Best Musical), The Crucible, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (Tony Award - Best Revival of a Play), Flower Drum, Golden Child. Additionally, Dori produced Fool Moon starring Bill Irwin and David Shiner (Tony Award 1999 - Special Theatrical Event) each of its three times on Broadway. Dori's 11th Broadway Show, Legally Blonde: The Musical, recently opened on Broadway and received 7 Tony Nominations. Additionally, Dori co-founded Camp Broadway, an immersive behind-the-scenes year-round national Theatre Camp aimed at giving kids a life-long-love for the arts. For film, Dori executive-produced and/or supervised over 40 feature, special f/x or animated productions including Isaac Mizrahi's award-winning documntary Unzipped, Dirty Dancing, and Jim Henson's MuppetVision 3-D. Dori is currently in production on her third documentary feature, chronicling the New Jersey Nets Senior Citizen Hip-Hopping Dance Squad. Her second documentary feature, Some Assembly Required, produced in partnership with NASA astronaut Dr. Sally Ride, follows kids competing in a national toy invention competition. The film is now in post production. She has served as a producer and/or executive for Paramount Pictures, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures, NBC, MTV, Sesame Workshop, Oxygen Media, Vestron Pictures and Walt Disney Imagineering.
